Ah, gotta love that cow level.  I hope that Blizzard will put something similar in Diablo III.   Tongue

James, how in God's name did you catch that quote of mine?  It couldn't have been more than 90 seconds before I deleted it and tried to cover my tracks.

I believe that someone else caught it and quoted it in that 20 Questions thread.  So, I just copied that to my sig.   Tongue

Portal. It was a fun ride, but a very short one. Love that little song during the end credits.

SJP, I played the demo of the Ghostbusters game on the 360 and I can see what you're talking about with the NPCs off twiddling their thumbs while you're wrangling the ghost. I'm thinking about getting it on the Wii, though. Just seems a little more natural.

Actually, I was referring to the NPC character in Resident Evil 5 screwing up royal; didn't have too much trouble with the NPCs in Ghostbusters, except at the opera house area.  Useless, utterly useless at that point.  "Tell you what, recruit, you shoot at all the ghosts in the area, while we fire blindly around and miss, and let the hobo ghosts knock us out with their bottles by employing the 'stand utterly still' strategy.'  Let us know when you've finished taking care of all them.  We'll be here on the ground, dying."   Grin  No, the Resident Evil thing was so effing annoying; you can ONLY beat a certain boss in that game by having both partners work with each other, and one of the things you have to do involves you holding the boss while your partner takes a shot.  If your partner doesn't, after a little while the boss escapes and automatically hits you...on the hardest difficulty setting, this kills you instantly.  My AI partner, once I had gotten into a completely helpless position by holding the boss in place, decided she was going to wander around and see all the shiny, pretty objects in the room.  At which point, the boss insta-killed me.

I don't care that sometimes games have random glitches and the computer does things that are unexpected; to have fought so hard to get to that point and have the AI inexplicably give me the finger at the worst possible time doesn't seem like an accident.

Surprisingly, another game I finished recently, ObsCure, probably has some of the best partner AI I've ever seen in a game.  They only take the ammo you give them, they generally shoot at the monsters that are the most dangerous (without wasting ammo, mind you), and...they get the crap out of your way when you're trying to maneuver around something!  And if you find yourself entering an area where they could get easily killed...you can tell them to stay put where it's safe, and they do!  And none of this diminishes your ability to fight monsters yourself or make the game way too easy!  Not the world's greatest game, but fun, and nothing like a smart partner to make the job more enjoyable.

BioShock (360). I really liked it. Fort Frolic was my favorite level in the game. I loved this piece of audio (NSFW):

Fantastic game though. Incredible setting for a video game and the atmosphere and lighting for it was just brilliantly done.

'Splosion Man has my favorite ending ever in any game (along with the credits). That was so awesome. Seriously, it's $10. What a steal. People who don't own it go pick it up. So much fun. Hilarious music too.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope.  Man, there are things I hate about this game.  Most of the characters are overly-designed, poorly written, annoying messes.  The story is also crazy, but it does have some cool moments, a shame that every character feels the need to speechify at length.  It's bloody ridiculous when characters are monologing when things are exploding around them.  However, the battle system is awesome.  It's really fun, and when you're at higher levels, some of the skills look crazy bad-ass.  There's also a ton to do and to collect: quests, battle trophies, monsters, treasure, weapons, spaceships.... It's a dream for people who love collecting stuff.  And I do, so I'll be going back into the game, and minus the plot and the characters talking, it should be fun.  Smiley

I beat Ghostbusters last week.  Pretty awesome game...the nostalgia factor helps carry it along, but the game is still pretty solid on it's own.  It's short, but not too short...in fact, if it were any longer, it might have overstayed it's welcome.  I would have liked a little bit more variety in the gameplay, like the section where you hang off the building to battle Stay Puft, but overall I really enjoyed it.  The online is pretty good too.

...Not one, but TWO Kombo Challenges in MK vs. DC!  Oh, and unlocked all the endings, too.

Now, you might say, 2 out of 22 Kombo Challenges isn't that big of a deal.  If you think so, play them for a few hours, especially if you're not good at fighting games (like I am; I'm generally lucky if I can beat the computer on Very Easy difficulty without continuing).  These are, quite possibly, the hardest things I've ever tried to do in a video game...except maybe the entirety of Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts, but that game has sheer hatred for humanity, so I don't count that.

I still want to finish all of them, but even two for the likes of me is a major accomplishment.

EDIT: On Aug. 23, I officially got all 100% of the trophies in the game (which originally sucked, since my hard drive glitched and every ending, Kombo Challenge, and unlockable was erased, and I had to start completely from scratch).  I did have to sort of bug somebody to get the "On-Line Flawless Victory" trophy (the only one I didn't earn through sheer determination), though the chances of me ever getting it through honest competition were low, since my current online record is 36-91.  Like I said, I REALLY suck at fighting games.  Well, actually, a good chunk of the people I was playing against did nothing but the same damn super moves over and over again without any clear strategy, so I'll call it a draw. Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride.  I thought it was okay, but probably my least favorite of the Dragon Quest series.  Sancho talks like a complete retard.  The monsters you can pick up as party members are mostly worthless and all get shuffled back out of your party to the wagon whenever you stay at an inn.  Your human characters are constantly being lost and you have to retrain someone new from level 5.

Still, T'n'T is a cool minigame, and I liked how the game spans 20 years.  I've never played a generational RPG before.

A final push and I finished off Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice.  It's a really cool game, though surprisingly short for a J-RPG.  I cleared the main quest in 45 hours, and that's counting the numerous random dungeons I messed around in.  I didn't think it was particularly hard either, though I believe that's a bonus Smiley  The biggest plus of the game for me, and to my surprise, was the story - it's completely whacked out, fun, and missing any of the stock J-RPG characters that plague even the biggest franchises in Japan.

Wanted: Weapons of Fate.  I thought it was a fine little shooter, though probably too easy for most people.  I suck at games like this, so to be able to complete it is a nice change.  Having completed it though, and only gotten 380 points, I still have no desire to play it again.  Back to the rental place with you!

Just beat Ghostbusters on Wii. Wanted to finally finish it (not that it's very long) before I got Metroid Prime Trilogy. It's really fun. Controls are great. I just wish it had the graphics of the other versions. Feel like I'm not getting the full experience. Then again, I'd feel that way on the other systems too, but about the controls.

Felt the same way about the Wii version of The Force Unleashed. So now that they're coming out with a new version with extra stuff on it for 360 and PS3, I'll most likely get it on the Xbox 360 when that comes out . . . at some point.
